Swoop
Based on work done by Tom "Magi" Smallwood (tomsm@dallas.net) and Brian "Arby" Taylor

Description:
Racing mod for Jedi Knight. You can choose to be one of six racers. Most of the focus is on speed and skill, so don't expect to get too much use out of your vehicle's weaponry. Also, note that skimming the ground will result in higher speeds than flying through the air.

-----------------------------------
Premise:

In the years since the rise of the New Republic, a new sport has swept the galaxy. As all things that sweep the galaxy, this sport was highly dangerous and highly illegal. The most popular of these leagues was run by the Coalition, a group made of of five individuals not known for moral uprightness. Tatooine's track was run by Gorda, a Hutt with a penchant for ventriloquism. Calamari's track was run by Krestin, a Mon Calamari who enjoyed watching swoopers drown in the seas of his home planet (he wasn't very nice). Over a track that weaved in and out of the buildings in the dark, lower levels of Coruscant reigned Salaron, a rat-like Teruka. The trees of Kashyyyk were home to the wookiee Rantaskkya, and his track notorious for its narrow bridges and hazardous jumps.

Of course, this mod only contains the Tatooine track.

Instructions:
Place sand.gob in your Episode directory (located in your JK directory). Swoopres is a patch file and can be run in several ways. You can use patch commander, or run it from the command line by creating a folder in your JK directory called "swoop" and running jk -path swoop from the DOS prompt.

Creating a new player would probably be your best bet. Make sure you assign keys to your turbo and special move. This can be done in the Setup/Control menu. Choose your swoop by walking up to it. Press the switch, and when the race begins, everyone in a swoop will be teleported into the level. Go forward until up to three racers finish the preset number of laps, then be teleported back to the lobby. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Press turbo once to activate, press again to deactivate. Nate's special move is targeted like force pull; however, due to an odd bug, you just press the button and it will look for a target and after about a second it will activate. There was no way of telling what was wrong with the move, and this was the best way to fix it and get the mod released. The other special moves are activated as soon as the button is pressed.
-----------------------------------
Notes:
Walking into the player model floating in the air will return you to your player model. Your special move will be a grappling hook. You will also be given 100 health and 100 shields. On some occasions, the speedometer cog will mess with your shields when you turn back. Simply walk into the model again for a health/shield recharge.

Some special moves do not work on players who are not in a swoop, and some Force powers do not work against swoops.

The blaster bolts can cause a player to fly backwards when shot. This is a side effect of the speeded up projectiles.

-----------------------------------
Bugs:

If you choose your swoop before someone joins the game, your model will be messed up due to .pup conflicts. Simply rechoose your swoop, and all will be well.

Quitting and rejoining can cause some strange errors in the rejoining player. Choosing a swoop or going back to the player model will fix this.

Sometimes the player will not play an animation when blocking with the saber. This is purely cosmetic.

Due to the size of the swoop models, a chasecam was created for external view. This has some mild HOMming problems. I suggest that if you find them too distracting, you use internal view.
